Start with the garment and the right layers
Bring the garment clean, recently tried on, and ready to discuss. If the fit depends on a specific undershirt, jacket, or pair of shoes, bring those too so the final adjustment is based on how you actually plan to wear the piece.
Know what feels wrong now
A short description helps: too long at the hem, tight through the waist, loose at the shoulder, or pulling across the back. Clear fit notes make the first consultation faster and reduce guesswork before any sewing begins.
Plan ahead for events and travel
If the garment is for a wedding, interview, trip, or other date-specific use, mention the timing early. Some jobs are simple and some need more careful review, especially when lining, delicate fabrics, or heavier materials are involved.
When to call first
Leather items, formalwear, and sentimental pieces usually deserve a quick conversation before drop-off. If you are unsure where to start, contact Birch International Seamstress and explain the garment, the fit issue, and your timeline.
